Encourage Them to Talk and Interact with Other Kids at Surf Camp
Surf camp, either day camp or sleep-away, is a great place to make friends. You’ll never know. Your kids could be the next big thing in surfing department and you’ll never know who some of their campmates will become! It never hurts to get to know people along the way. Encourage your kids to talk and interact with their peers at the camp. If they are a little on the shy side, you can try to pack some extra snacks to share with the other kids or some fun games to play together with. This would be a great conversation starter and help your kids talking.
See the Instructors
One way to ensure your child’s satisfaction and safety on the surf camp is by knowing the instructors. Take time to talk with the instructor before or after rolling your kids to the surf camp. Make sure they know their stuff, how to handle the kids, and more importantly, is fair and and friendly. Talk to the instructor about sensitive issues like harassment and bullying. Make sure they know what to do on such incidents. On the other side, encourage your kids to talk to their instructor! They shouldn’t be shy about doing so and the response from the instructors could be very valuable!
