If you love scuba diving and happen to visit the Island of God Bali, you cannot simply skip Nusa Penida. It was a hidden travel destinations and dive spot back in early 2010, but its beauty just cannot stay hidden too long. By now, Nusa Penida is one of the most photographed island in Bali because it’s just so pretty. If you haven’t seen the breathtaking picture of the T-rex like Kelingking beach, one of the signature beach of Nusa Penida, you will be soon. This island is just blessed with stark white beaches, coastal cliff tops, azure waters, and some of the liveliest marine life in Bali. The Nusa Penida is also home for the magnificent Manta Ray and the rare Mola Mola Sunfish! It’s simply a paradise for anyone who want to get a time away from the busy Bali. The Nusa Penida is just waiting to be explored and here’s what you need to know before going for a dive there!
You Need to Book A Boat Before Having Scuba Diving in Nusa Penida
Yes, the Nusa Penida is a whole separated island from the mainland Bali. You need to catch a boat that depart from Sanur, Bali, to Nusa Penida. The public boat is much cheaper but it takes 90 minutes to get there. Another option is a fast boat, which is more expensive but a lot quicker. You can either have a day trip in Nusa Penida for scuba diving or spend a night there. We personally prefer a night in Nusa Penida! That way you can have more rest and explore more dive sites (and beaches!) in the next day.
Arrange Room Accommodation
You won’t fall short on hotels and resorts in Nusa Penida! They are plenty of them. Some even cater to divers; means you can find scuba diving equipments to rent there. If you want to go for a view, choose accommodation around Manta Point and Manta Bay. You can see dozens of Manta Ray swimming in the clear water in the morning just from the hotels!
Dive with A Diving Centre from the Mainland
Here’s a little tip. Arranging a dive trip to Nuda Penida in Bali will give you lots of easier time than booking one in the Penida itself. They will take care everything. You don’t need to worry about arranging the fast boat, accommodation, dive equipments, and going from one dive sites to another. What you need to do is just pay for the package and let them do the rest. They make scuba diving in Nusa Penida so easy! You can always book a dive centre in Nusa Penida, but they won’t help you with the fast boat arrangements and transportation back to your hotel in Bali.

Mid October to November is the Mola Mola season, so it can also get quite crowded.
